Being single on Valentine’s Day honestly doesn’t bother me. Maybe because I’ve never been in a relationship during the Valentine’s Day holiday, there’s nothing to miss. Single on Valentine’s Day is my normal. Sure, it made me upset in high school and college, when friends of mine had dates and would get all dolled up to go out. Not anymore. I’m not sad about being single, therefore being single on February 14th is just like any other weekday. That said, I’m still going to find a way to celebrate. People all around me will be celebrating, so I might as well join in on the fun!
In my opinion, there are four great ways to celebrate a single Valentine’s day.
1. Galentine’s
So technically Galentine’s was invented as a holiday for February 13, where women celebrate each other, almost like a pre-Valentine’s Day celebration. Realistically I didn’t know that until I was researching to write this, but yeah. Some people do Galentine’s like a single ladies night on February 14, others might do something with all their lady friends to celebrate. Do what you want! You can stay in and have a movie marathon, celebrate by doing brunch on the weekend, or go out on the town – whatever you want! Just get a group of your girlfriends together and have fun!
2. Self-Care
Self-care isn’t only meant for #selfcaresundays you know! Obviously you can do it whenever you want, but sometimes I find we don’t prioritize self-care, so this is a perfect excuse to set the time apart and get it done. My favorite way to do this? I almost treat it like a spa day. Get home, shower, make some tea (or grab a bottle of wine), and get to it. I’ll do a face scrub or mask, maybe a mani-pedi and then enjoy cozy time on the couch watching tv or reading a book. It’s basically dedicated, uninterrupted me time.
3. Spend it With Family
I don’t have the luxury of spending time with family this year, but if you do, this is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day! We love doing taco nights in my house, so if I was home I would suggest that! Maybe you do a family dinner out or a movie night? You could do a small family gift exchange too. Ultimately it doesn’t matter how, but you can find a way to spend time with your family showing them how much you care and appreciate them.
4. Do Nothing
Yes, that’s right. Ultimately February 14th is just another day in the week. Maybe you have a dentist appointment? Maybe you have work. It’s just another day, so just go about your business. Just another 24 hours.
I’m still not sure how I’m spending Valentine’s Day, but I can guarantee I’m going to enjoy it!

I agree with your last one! Both of us have to work, nor have the money to do any extravagant and at the end of the day it’s just another day! I’ve only ever spent 1 valentine’s day not single but I don’t really see the big deal in it! great post:)
Exactly! Just another Thursday. Thanks Millie!
